We all understand the benefits of LED bulbs...energy savings, longer life, low heat, no mercury, etc. However, older LED bulbs were unattractive and look out of place in a luxurious chandelier or modern wall sconce. This forced many to revert back to antiquated incandescent bulbs.
Modvera Lighting is excited to announce our new LED filament candelabra, which is designed to look great in your modern, elegant light fixture. Our LED candelabra looks and feels like the traditional incandescent candelabras. It is constructed of glass and the LED filament gives of the traditional warm white 2700K light color. The light output is about 400 lumens, which is equal to a 40W incandescent bulb. Best of all it uses less than 4 watts and is warm to the touch even after house of use. Below are two photos showing the new LED filament bulb versus the old LED bulb.
So what are LED filaments? The old LED bulbs have any number of small LEDs that gives off the light. The LED filaments consist of LED chips (some call them LED dice) mounted on a thin glass substrate. The LED chips are either joined by a metal trace, or jump-wire-bonded in series. The series of LED chips are then encapsulated in a resin made up of silicone and phosphors that transform the LED chips' blue light into white. This all gets very technical, but the bottom lights is that LED filaments give engineers and manufacturers greater flexibility when designing attractive LED light bulbs.
